The holidays can be a lonely time for some elderly people. 200.000 Dutch elderly people indicate that they are very lonely. That’s why Icemedia developed a Facebook application for het Ouderenfonds (the Elderly Fund) and the VriendenLoterij (Friends Lottery). The campaign’s name is “Laat ze niet in de steek” (Don’t forget about them). People can send up to five cards to random elderly people living in nursing homes across the country to ensure them of the fact that they’re not entirely forgotten. The campaign is already succesfull: it’s only been live for three days and about 13.000 cards have been sent up until now!
